Recently, senior leadership at the Baptist University of Florida (BUF) met with many local physicians along with esteemed members in higher education to begin laying out the foundation to add three STEM degrees to the university’s current list of degree offerings. BUF will launch its pre-nursing and pre-medical programs specifically aimed at dual-credit students. These two programs will prepare students by providing the first two years of liberal arts and sciences required to enter a traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program or continue further education in the medical field. In addition, discussions included a Bachelor of Science in Science Education, which will prepare students to teach science at the secondary level. The launch of the above degrees is slated for Spring 2025, with Français and Spanish offerings beginning Fall 2025. The degrees will be available in-person and online.
BUF is excited to continue expanding its degree offerings by approaching the intersection of science and medicine from a biblical worldview. According to Executive Vice President Dr. John Massey, “We live in a world where every part of our lives intersects with science and technology. The Christian community, as a result, is now demanding more offerings in science and technology from Christian higher education, including medicine, to seed this industry with those who will bring a Christian witness and worldview to this ever-expanding marketplace. BUF is committed to meeting this demand by positioning itself as an industry leader in Christian higher education with world-class STEM programs that are easily accessible, affordable, and Christian worldview based.” The university is on a mission and has positioned itself to equip students in every career field to work with excellence and magnify the name of Christ.
